David Andrew, Esq.

Criminal Defense Attorney Assistant Chief

David Andrew is a New Jersey native and he attended Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, in Davie, Florida. He began his legal career in Broward County in 2011 as an Assistant State Attorney, where he prosecuted thousands of traffic criminal, misdemeanor, and felony cases. He later moved to Louisiana in 2015, where he also briefly worked with the Office of the District Attorney in New Orleans before joining the military.

Mr. Andrew commissioned as a Lieutenant with the U.S. Coast Guard in 2015. As a Judge Advocate, Mr. Andrew handled all legal matters related to the Coast Guard’s diverse mission set, including maritime law enforcement and drug and migrant interdiction, domestic and international agency engagement, intelligence law, search and rescue, waterways management, marine science activities, safety and security operations, marine incident management, marine inspections, planning and force readiness, living marine resources and fisheries violations, federal ethics, administrative law and regulations, policy development, navigability and jurisdiction, external affairs and resources, and claims and litigation.

Mr. Andrew also worked with the U.S. Navy, JAG Corps, as specially-detailed defense counsel, where he advocated the rights of Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard members, and ensured proper administration of military justice under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.s
